Muntenia
Muntenia is the south Romanian region, known for its hot summers and mild winters. Mainly a large plain, the area is bordered by the Danube river in the south and Carpathian mountains at north. Bucharest, the country’s capital and one of the most culturally vibrant European cities, is to be found here. Due to its impressive architectural mix of old and new, but also because of the film studios located in its outskirts, Bucharest has often been chosen as shooting location for international productions.
Transylvania
The most famous of them all, Transylvania is the land of medieval castles and towns, traditional German villages, wooden churches, deep dark forests and snowy peaks. The architecture of towns like Sighișoara, Sibiu or Brașov fits perfectly in every scene or setting, being able to simultaneously illustrate a historic moment or an elegant urban picture.
Moldavia
Certainly one of the most specific inspiring in Romania, Moldavia is a mild blend of historical cities, medieval fortresses and traditional, painted monasteries, tucked away between picturesque rolling hills. The region is flanked in the west by woody mountains and has fertile plains in the southeast.
Dobrogea
This particular region, located at the seaside, is marked by the presence of ancient Greek and Roman cities’ ruins, within the unspoiled natural landscapes of Danube Delta and Black Sea lagoons. Much of the region consists of Biosphere Reservations and UNESCO World Heritage sites, real wonders of the contemporary world. Also here is the home for seven different nations living together since ever, hence the cultural mix is truly diverse and unique.
